The option to have a required phone number allows store owners to make this information from the customer mandatory. There are a few important reasons why a phone number may be needed from a customer such as in the case of delivery issues (especially for Cash on Delivery option), payment validation, or order questions.
Users can access the ability to enable this improvement within their store's:
CARTS & CHECKOUT > SETTINGS > GENERAL.
Step 1: Access the Carts & Checkout dashboard
Step 2: Access the Settings button
Step 3: Enable the toggle to "Make customer telephone number required on the checkout form:" and Save Changes
BEFORE enabling this toggle, the phone number is optional and looks like this on the checkout form:
AFTER enabling this toggle, the customer is required to enter their telephone number. Also, as you can see, the country code is automatically detected to simplify the ease of use and input.
